Dexter High School Hosts STEM Expo

Dexter High School students showed off their “thinking and tinkering” skills Wednesday. It was all about STEM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, and math. They turned the school into one big interactive exhibit for the day.The school teamed up with the Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance’s Reach Center to showcase the students projects.”You can learn a lot of stuff being here, like science, and arts, and, like, math, and the way things work,” said sophomore Madison Provost.Middle schoolers from Ridge View Community School came to the expo.”They get to be involved in everyone’s project and that they get to learn a new thing from each person,” said junior Ansalewit Laughton. As complex as the projects got, the goal of the day stayed simple.”To help students understand that stem is all around them and that they don’t have to look too far to find it.I hope everybody leaves energized to see what’s available, what’s out there, and also what great things students are doing in their community.”
