A Jackson man has pleaded guilty in connection to the shooting death of a Florida man. Daniel Porter pleaded guilty Wednesday to manslaughter. He was originally charged with murder. The judge accepted Porter’s guilty plea Wednesday afternoon.Porter’s defense attorney, Jeff Silverstein said his client “has no problem with the idea of accepting responsibility because he knows that he played a role in this and it was appropriate that he stand before the court and acknowledge that fact.”State prosecutors are recommending Porter spend 20 years in jail. Prosecutors called the death a drug-related homicide.Jerry Perdomo, 31, a firefighter from Florida, was found dead on property belonging to Porter’s family . Police say Perdomo was shot in the head. Perdomo’s body was found wrapped in a tarp tied at both ends, in woods on land belonging to Porter’s grandmother. Police said Perdomo came to Maine to collect a $3,000 drug debt Porter owed to him.
