Surry Man Accused of Selling Cocaine in Hancock County

A man from Surry is accused of funneling cocaine into Maine and selling it throughout Hancock County. State drug agents arrested 54-year-old Mark Briggs Sunday in Ellsworth.They say he was coming back home after a run out-of-state to refuel his drug supply. Authorities stopped his car and say they found nearly a half-a-pound of cocaine, worth $17,000.They then searched his home, where they say they seized more drugs and $10,000 in cash. Briggs was out on bail for an OUI conviction at the time of his arrest.He appeared in court Monday and was released on bail.Briggs faces a minimum of four years in prison, if he’s convicted of the drug charges.
