Robbery Suspect Sends Police on a Car Chase in Augusta

A suspect involved with two armed robberies led police on a chase in Augusta on Saturday.Augusta Police said Jed St. Hilaire, 34, stole a woman’s purse at the Wal-mart on Civic Center drive and then stole another female’s purse in a Hannaford’s parking lot. Police said they located the 34-year-old in his car, but the suspect did not stop and instead he drove onto I-95.The Kennebec County Sheriffs Office, State and Augusta police got St. Hilaire to stop around mile marker 105.He’s charged with robbery, theft, and numerous other charges and is being held at the Kennebec county jail.
