Bangor Fire Department Investigating Norfolk St. Blaze
The Bangor Fire Department quickly battled a fire on Jefferson Street on Saturday. The fire started in a unit on the first floor of an apartment building. Officials said the fire was put out in about five minutes and no one was injured.Assistant Fire Chief Darrell Cyr said smoke detectors did play a role in the blaze. “The ones in that unit were not operable. There was one, I think, on the 2nd floor unit that did go off and that’s what alerted that there was an issue.”Cyr said he’s not sure if the tenants can return to the first floor unit at this time. The Bangor Fire Department says the cause is undetermined.
