State Seeks to Close Norridgewock Day Care Center
The state is seeking to permanently shut down a Norridgewock child care facility run by a woman whose husband has been charged with unlawful sexual contact with three children who attended the center. Department of Health and Human Services spokesman John Martins says ABC 123 Daycare was ordered closed this week for 10 days, while the department seeks court permission for a permanent closure. He tells the Morning Sentinel, it was closed because conditions at the facility jeopardize the health and safety of children. ABC 123 was run by Barbara Barstow out of her home. Her husband, Horace Barstow, has been charged with three counts of unlawful sexual contact with children under 12. He is free on bail. The Barstows had no comment.
