A woman from Bangor accused of stabbing her boyfriend to death has been sentenced to a mental health facility in Augusta. 53-year-old Gail Judd pleaded not criminally responsible by reason of insanity Thursday.A judge in Bangor accepted that plea and ordered her to Riverview Psychiatric Hospital indefinitely. Judd stabbed 47-year-old Michael Drouin in February of last year. Her lawyer argued a liver condition causing too much ammonia to leak into her systen makes her delirious. Because of that, he says Judd may have been in an altered state of mind at the time of the murder.Court paperwork says Judd initially told police Drouin was forcing himself on her and she grabbed a knife for protection.
