Lawmakers and advocates for Alzheimers awareness gathered at the state house for a big announcement.The group announced Maine’s first ever state plan to battle that disease.It has four major parts: 1. Increase Alzheimers awareness2. Provide more timely diagnosis and treatment3. Offer better support to caregivers 4. Increase access to long-term care.The plan is the result of a DHHS task force made possible by a law passed last year. Experts tell us 1 in 8 Mainers 65 and over has Alzheimers.
