Updated 2 years ago

Police say the death of a Molunkus Township man is being investigated as a homicide. Lawrence Lewis, 68, was found dead in his house Monday evening. Police say they learned of the death during a standoff on I-95 near Lincoln. According to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, Bruce Heal, 59, who was also known as Bruce King, admitted to killing Lewis and hiding his body inside a house in Molunkus. Heal shot and killed himself during the standoff. Heal was a passenger in a U-Haul truck driven by Lynda Fogg, 43, also known as Lynda Gordon. Fogg and Heal were married on March 1st. Police say Fogg is being interviewed and is cooperating with them. Investigators say Heal and Lewis had been living together for years and Fogg moved in with them last fall. Fogg and Heal reportedly moved out of the house recently and were staying at motels and with family members. Lewis was a convicted sex offender and police say they are looking into whether that has any connection to this case. More information is expected to be released after additional testing is performed by officials at the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
