The UMaine women’s basketball team is still in Massachusetts following last night’s accident when the team bus crossed the median of I-95, and the northbound lanes of traffic before hitting trees along the side of the interstate.Freshman guard Milica Mitrovic broke her hand in the accident and was treated at a hospital overnight, and will be returning to Orono with the team today.According to a spokesperson for Cyr Bus Lines in Old Town, the driver of the bus, Jeff Hamlin, 55, of Charleston is in fair condition at Boston Medical Center. His family told the bus company, he is in stable condition, conscious, and conversing with his family members at Brigham and Women’s hospital. He did get burned in the accident, and will be transported to a burn center, but the time table for that transfer is unknown. He was flown from the scene to the hospital after the accident in Georgetown, MA Tuesday night.Head Coach Richard Barron did get what is being described as minor cuts to his face during the accident and he was treated at the hospital.All the players and staff were treated at three hospitals last night, and released this morning. The game scheduled for Wednesday night at Boston University has been cancelled.The team is expected to arrive back on campus this afternoon. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
