Missing Passadumkeag Man’s Body and Truck Found in River

The body of a Passadumkeag man missing since early Saturday morning has been found in the Penobscot River.Deputy Chief Troy Morton of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department said crews found 75-year-old Gerald Crommett’s truck submerged in the river 60 feet from shore on Sunday morning, along with his body.Crommett was last seen leaving his home on Pleasant Street around 5:00 AM Saturday morning to go to work in Enfield. Crews from the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department, State Police and the Maine Warden Service searched through the blizzard on Saturday after receiving a missing person’s report around 11:30 AM.Morton said search crews found evidence that a truck might be in the Penobscot River around 8:00 Saturday night, but couldn’t get to the water in the wind and snow.We’re told crews returned on Sunday morning and recovered Crommett’s body. Morton believes Crommett became disoriented after hitting a tree and drove his pickup into the river.
