St. Joseph Hospital Gets Taser
St. Joseph Hospital will soon have taser stored on site. The device will only be accessible to police officers who respond or are on private detail at the hospital. On Monday, interim Police Chief Peter Arno requested the Bangor Government Operations Committee approve the purchase. He says an increasing population of hostile patients has led to incidents that would be more easily handled with a taser than pepper spray, which can contaminate an otherwise sterile area. The hospital will pay for the $1,000 device, but it must be purchased through the police force.
