UMaine Hockey Earns Point In Tie With Providence

South Portland native and freshman Jon Gillies in net tonight for Providence.In the third period, the Black Bears down 1-0. It looked like Maine was leaving without anything. Providence scores to make it 2-0. But Todd Simcox and family saying “this one ain’t over!”Later in the third, UMaine was shorthanded. Joey Diamond with the steal and gets a one-on-one chance. He capitalizes, beating Gillies on the back hand. That made it 2-1.The Black Bears weren’t done there. Freshman Devin Shore with the shot, and it’s tipped in by Diamond! That tied it at two. That’s how it would end, a 2-2 tie. Maine gets a point in the standings.
