The Finance Authority of Maine will be at 50 workshops across the state on Saturday, January 19th to help high school students and their families with college aid.Financial experts will answer questions and help students fill out the Free Application for Student Aid.FAME says many grants and scholarships have deadlines, so the earlier the FASA is filled out, the better.Students should bring with them:Financial information from 2012 (dependent students will also need parents’ financial information)2012 W-2 forms and other records of money earned2012 Federal Income Tax Return (and if married, your spouse’s)Current bank statementsSocial Security cardDriver’s license (if any)Also bring (if applicable):2012 untaxed income recordsCurrent business and investment mortgage information, business and farm records, stock, bond and other investment records.Alien registration or permanent resident cardIf your 2012 forms, income records and tax returns are not yet available, students and families can estimate the information using past tax forms and income records.FAME will offer 20 $500 scholarships to students who attend the College Goal of Maine events.
