Health care reform can be a tough topic to tackle. It’s not any easier for employers to understand. A seminar in Ellsworth Tuesday morning hopefully made things a bit clearer. Understanding health care reform isn’t the easiest task, so the City of Ellsworth hosted seminar to try and help. Employees from Employee Benefits Solutions led the discussion. ” To talk about health care reform and all of the different complexities and the issues associated with it,” said Rick Morrrone, director of health and life benefits for Employee Benefits Solutions. The changes mean lots of questions for employers. ” What’s the best coverage we can get for a feasible amount of money that keeps the employees best interests at hand,” said Jake Taylor, vice president of Wallace Tent & Party Rental. Some of the changes include how you define a full-time employee and what kind of health coverage some businesses are required to offer. ” There’s a lot to health care reform changes that are coming and I think there’s more information that needs to be given out,” said Morrone. For some people, it’s a bit of information overload. ” Hopefully through all of this, you know, we can get set up on the right avenues to be able to provide a better source of health coverage to our employees,” said Taylor. The two-hour seminar discussed changes many organizations will face. ” To figure out how we’re all falling into this and how it applies to everyone’s particular business is really going to be a big thing. It’s gonna take some time, ” added Taylor. Employers we spoke with hope that there will be more events like this one, to help guide them to making the best decisions about health care.
