Post Offices Start to Cut Back Hours

Now that the busiest day of the year for mail delivery has passed, dozens of small post offices will cut their hours across the state. The U.S. Postal Service said 55 small offices will reduce their hours as part of the Service’s cost-cutting plan. The USPS said 200 more will do the same over the next two years.Postal Service spokesman Tom Rizzo says the changes will only affect counter service and people will still be able to gain access to the lobby and post office boxes when counters are closed.Earlier this year the postal service announced it was planning to shut down post offices because of financial troubles.
