A tasty way to make a difference in Ellsworth on Wednesday night. Fire fighters are preparing for September’s “50th Annual Maine Fire Fighter’s Convention”.Governor’s restaurant in Ellsworth partnered with the convention committee with 10-percent of the evening’s proceeds going towards their cause.Organizers expect the gathering will bring hundreds of fire fighters from Maine and even Canada to the city.”We’ve taken the bar and instead of raising it, we got rid of it. The sky is the limit. Everything that we’re trying to do for this convention is over the top and people are getting excited,” said Ellsworth Fire Chief Richard Topper. Organizers say, visitors can look forward to a banquet and fire truck parade. They also tell us they’re looking to bring in a “top entertainment act”, which is still to be named.
