Local Church Collects Coats for Hurricane Sandy Victims

A local Church is helping the victims of Hurricane Sandy stay warm. The Pilgrim Orthodox Presbyterian Church is collecting coats for families in New York and New Jersey.Victims of the hurricane are still cleaning up the mess outside and with some homes still without heat, coats have become a necessity.”We’ve heard other Maine groups sending food and supplies. We really wanted to have a particular focus, that being coats, since it was mentioned pretty specifically,” says church member Jean Small. The church has collected over 500 coats so far. 200 of them were donated by Sugarloaf Mountain. The coats will be sent to their sister church in New York.If you’d like to donate, contact the church at 942-8054.
