Things were moving at the Augusta Civic Center Thursday. That’s where the annual Maine Transportation Conference was held.it’s hosted by the Maine Department of Transportation. This years theme: Driving Maine’s Economy Through Transportation.Organizers say the goal is to make people more aware of what transportation infrastructure means to our state’s economy. “The high level bridge in Kittery, 75% of the gross domestic product travel over that bridge into Maine,” said Maine DOT spokesperson Ted Talbot. “So it’s incredibly important to maintain the infrastructure that we have. A lot of the people you see here today are not only responsible for that, but wanting a piece of that action.”More than 100 vendors were on-hand and they had a larger audience than previous years. We’re told attendance is up 15%.
