Former Maine Prosecutor Appears in Court After Arrest in New Mexico

A former Maine prosecutor who was on the run for nearly three weeks made his first court appearance in New Mexico Monday. 50-year-old James Cameron was arrested by U.S. Marshals Sunday morning at a convenience store in Albuquerque.The U.S Attorney’s Office say Cameron will be returned to Maine after second hearing, which could be a soon as Tuesday.Cameron was convicted of child pornography charges two years ago and was sentenced to sixteen years in prison.He had been out on bail while he appealed but lost part of that appeal three weeks ago.Authorities say that same day Cameron cut off his court-ordered electronic monitoring bracelet and took off in his car.Photo Courtesy: Maine Media Today
