Pittsfield was honored by the LePage administration on Wednesday.The town was certified as a “business friendly community” by the Maine Department of Economic and Community Development at a ceremony held in the town council chambers. The award is given to communities that create an atmosphere favorable for business growth. “It’s a thorough self-evaluation by the towns and municipalities of what it takes for a business to exist in your town,” said George Gervais, Commissioner at DECD. “How difficult do they make it? How easy is it to get through a planning board meeting?”To date, 14 cities and towns across maine have been declared business friendly communities.
