Fundraiser Planned for Local Non-Profit that Brings Cancer Patients Comfort

Updated 1 year ago

Over the past five years, a local non-profit has helped make patients at Eastern Maine Medical Center a little more comfortable.Comforting Blankets gives out blankets to cancer patients as well as children at the hospital. This weekend, a fundraiser in Bangor will help Comforting Blankets reach more patients.President Bobbie Dumond says it’s unbelievable how much the patients appreciate the gesture”Even the toughest man, it will bring him to tears. There’s a little card that I give them, each of the patients, and they’re just overwhelmed. They can’t believe that somebody gives out a blanket to give them a little comfort,” said Dumond. There will be a holiday marketplace and auction this weekend at the Bangor Civic Center to benefit Comforting Blankets. On Saturday the marketplace is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The auction begins afterward from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. On Sunday, the marketplace is open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The fundraiser is sponsored by Varneys GMC in Bangor and Dumond’s Lawncare. Proceeds will help pay for blankets and the non-profit’s general operation costs.
