Maine’s first family says a food drive at the Blaine House netted more than 1,500 pounds of food, nearly triple last year’s collection.Governor LePage and First Lady Ann LePage took donations at the governor’s mansion over the last three Saturdays. They say the food will be helping Mainers in need, within the week. A truck from Good Shepherd Food Bank picked up the collection Tuesday – 1,568 pounds in all. It will be sent to distributions centers in Brewer, Auburn and Portland. Organizers of local food pantries and meal programs will pick up the food and pass it out from there.
