Parents of RSU 19 Students to Meet to Find Solutions, Not to Rehash Budget

Updated 2 years ago

Parents of students in RSU 19 will meet next week to discuss some major cutbacks.Voters in the Newport area on Tuesday voted down a 3-point-6 million dollar loan to help repay the district’s debts. No loan means some programs have already been cut, including j-v and middle school sports, and after school buses. The superintendent says he now has to slash 1.6 million dollars this year.On November 12th, at 6p.m. parents and concerned citizens will meet at the Palmyra community center to come up with ideas to present to the superintendent on how to fix the problems. The meeting is to come up with ideas on how to help the kids, and is not to rehash the budget.
