Just over 8,000 voters cast their ballot at the Civic Center on Tuesday night. Most of those votes can be calculated electronically, but about 1,600 needed to be counted by hand because of voter errors and write-ins. Unofficial results for local elections weren’t posted on the city’s website until about 5 this morning.Voting officials say the delay was necessary to make sure everyone’s vote was counted.”Voters don’t always follow directions on how to fill their ballot. For instance you’re supposed to connect the arrow on the ballot but sometimes they will do all kinds of things to indicate how they’re voting but its not the way machine can count it,” says Bangor City Clerk Lisa Goodwin. A complete list of unofficial election results for Bangor can be found at Bangormaine.gov.
