Non-Profits Discuss Collaboration in Bangor

There are a lot of non-profit organizations in Maine doing good work, but a local coalition says they could be even better if they collaborate. On Wednesday, the Maine Community Capacity Coalition hosted its third annual “Grant Summit” for non-profits at Husson University in Bangor. Organizations working in everything from healthcare to forrestry to education attended.”It’s really an opportunity for people to come together that may not talk all that often and may not know what each individual non-profit does, to see how can we collaborate, and maybe in a meaningfully unique way that will set us apart from the rest of the crowd across the country to get those dollars into our region,” said Vicki Rusbult of the Eastern Maine Development Corporation. The coalition believes the non-profits might be more successful applying for federal grants as a group, in order to bring more resources and services to eastern Maine.
