Dedham Man Appears in Court After Arrested in Police Standoff 

A Dedham man accused of causing a six hour police standoff over the weekend appeared in court, Monday.James Garland, 46, pleaded not guilty to reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon and domestic violence assault at Ellsworth Superior Court.Police were called to his home off Green Lake Road around 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning by a woman who said he assaulted her and fired a gun. She left the home when police got there, but Garland reportedly barricaded himself inside. Officials said he surrendered himself to police six hours later.Garland was released Monday afternoon on $500 dollars bail.
