AG’s Office: China Man Killed in Self-Defense, No Charges Filed

The Attorney General’s Office says a man from China was killed in self-defense and no charges will be filed in the case. 38-year-old James Dodge died of a stab wound to the chest in July. Dodge was inside his girlfriend’s home with three other people when a confrontation started. Deputy Attorney General Bill Stokes says there was strong evidence that one of those people used self-defense to kill Dodge and state prosecutors would not have been able to overcome that evidence if the case went to trial. Stokes says state law allows people to use deadly force if they believe their life or someone else’s depends on it.
