2012 American Folk Festival Ends in Deficit

Updated 1 year ago

The 2012 American Folk Festival came up short of breaking even. The festival is projected to end the year at a deficit of between $8,000 – $14,000. Festival organizer, Heather McCarthy, says even though they are finishing at a deficit, ” the AFF is well-positioned to move ahead with plans for the 2012 event- and for future years as well.” Planning is already underway for the 2013 festival. ” The encouraging news is that we saw and 11th year of strong support and attendance for the American Folk Festival on the Bangor Waterfront,” said McCarthy. ” The Festival audience counts on us to present a unique cultural annual event, and we are excited about the 2013 AFF and its sustainability going forward.” In 2011, the festival came up $75,000 short from breaking even. Tropical Storm Irene forced organizers to cancel Sunday’s musical performances, turning it into a two-day event. The 2013 American Folk Festival is scheduled for August 23, 24, and 25th.
