Eating a roast beef dinner this weekend will help keep a food pantry open. The Bread of Life Food Pantry in Orrington is in high demand. It’s only open the first and third Saturday of each month. Coordinators say they’ve seen an increased need. ” These are people that, ya know, generally need help. They’re losing their jobs, we have a lot of elderly people that are coming in here. We also have an outreach program where we take boxes of food to the elderly because a lot of them are shut-ins and they can’t make it,” said Patti, a coordinator of the food pantry. This weekend’s roast beef dinner and silent raffle is catered by Weathervane Seafood. The Save the Food Pantry Dinner is Saturday night from 4 to 7 at the Orrington Lighthouse Church on River Road. It costs $8 for adults, $4 for kids 12 and under, or $20 for a family of four. Kids under 3 eat for free.
