Updated 2 years ago

One Sorority at the University of Maine ended their Homecoming Weekend Celebration with a hike around Orono. The Alumnae Chapter of Delta Zeta sorority held their fourth annual Hike for Hearing on Sunday. Participants walk through the Orono Land Trust Trail every year. The event raises money for the Warren Center of Bangor. The center supports local families who are dealing with hearing loss or speech impediments. One member of the sorority says the Warren Center is a great place to send donations. President of the UMaine Chapter, Heidi Wurpel, said “It could mean hearing aides for a man who otherwise couldn’t hear or sign language lessons for a child’s family or community who wouldn’t get them otherwise. So they’ve always been so appreciative of anything we’re able to generate.”If you would like to donate to the warren center, you can visit them at 922 Union Street or head to mainedeltazetaalum.wordpress.com
