A Night of Sweet Treats Supports Families In Need

Terry Stackhouse

It was a night of sweet treats over at Eastern Maine Community College on Friday. Some local restaurants and chefs sampled their goods for a worthy cause. It was all part of the 7th Annual Celebrity Dessert And Auction, hosted by TV 5’s own Todd Simcox and Joy Hollowell. Tickets were $15 dollars, which went towards supporting needy families in the area struggling with healthcare costs. “Its incredible because you put in so much, and we work on this for months, and we’re bringing everything in and it always seems like everything is up in the air until the last minute. Then it comes together and its just wonderful and everything goes to good homes and everyone has a good time. Its just great,” said Kathy Vanaria, co-chair of the event. The money raised will benefit terminally ill patients and their families, grieving children and adults in the community, and end of life education.
