Bangor Waterfront Now Home to Sculpture by International Artist

A new addition to the Bangor waterfront was unveiled Thursday. The site is now a permanent home to a sculpture from this year’s Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium. The untitled work was created by Japanese artist, Koichi Ogino. He and seven other artists from all over the world showed their work off at the University of Maine this summer.Bangor City Council Chair, Cary Weston, said the city is lucky to now have Ogino’s piece.”To have someone from half way across the world come and show his talent and share his knowledge and make it not only a fun, cultural and art experience, but an educational experience with the folks from the university, adds a special touch out here and we’re proud to host this statue on our waterfront,” said Weston. We’re told Ogino has left its meaning open to interpretation.
