A new granite statute will be welcomed to the Bangor Waterfront Thursday, thanks to the handiwork of a Japanese artist. The sculpture was commissioned as part of the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposium. The event takes place every two years and draws people from all over the world. This year Bangor took part, choosing an artist from Japan to create one of the eight public pieces that will be displayed across eastern Maine. The sculpture will be unveiled at its permanent home at 1 p.m. It’s near the Harbor Master’s office on Front Street, next to the Sea Dog Restaurant.Everyone is welcome to come.
