Charges have been dropped against a doctor at Eastern Maine Medical Center accused of threatening to throw his baby daughter out a window. The prosecutor says the Penobscot County District Attorney’s office dismissed the case not because of lack of evidence, but because the mother is now living in New Zealand with the baby and can’t make it back to Maine for a trial. 30-year-old Gurpreet Singh of Bangor was arrested in July after his wife told police Singh and his father tried to grab the one-month-old girl during an argument. The woman said she and her husband were fighting because the baby was not a boy. Singh, who’d previously pleaded not guilty, appeared in court yesterday. He was scheduled to go on trial in December.Charges against his father were also dropped.
