A Dozen People are Homeless after an Early Morning Apartment Fire 

Twelve people are homeless after an apartment building fire in Pittsfield.Chief Bernard Williams said a women accidentally started the fire. She was cooking french fries around midnight Saturday morning on the third floor of the building when the fire started. All of the residents got out safely, but Williams said the building owner does not have insurance. Residents were able to get some of their remaining belongings Sunday.The American Red Cross is helping place the residents into emergency shelters.
