Voters Approve RSU 18 Budget

Voters in five towns decided the third time is a charm, at least for the Regional School Unit 18 budget.Belgrade, China, Oakland, Rome, and Sidney decided by a nearly two to one margin to pass the 31.9-million dollar budget. The previous two budgets, one in June and another in August, were rejected by voters. In august, after voters rejected the budget for a second time, teachers volunteered to take a pay cut. That helped save the district about 60 thousand dollars. The superintendent said, the current flat-funded budget is more in line with the voter’s sentiment.
