Fall Hydrant Flushing in Orono, Veazie Starts Monday

The Orono-Veazie Water District will start its fall hydrant flushing on Monday, October 1st.Folks who live in the area can expect to see some discoloration in their water. That’s the mineral deposits being washed out of the system. Officials say the water may not look clear, but it’s still safe to drink. When crews are flushing hydrants in a neighborhood, though, it’s not a good idea to do laundry since the discolored water can stain fabrics.Flushing all of the hydrants takes a few weeks to complete. If you have questions, you can call the Water District at 866-4449.
