Updated 2 years ago

Old Town High School students have been back in school for a few weeks, but the new school year also came with a new addition. It was back to school night at Regional High School Unit 34 on Tuesday and community members were able to tour a brand new section of the school. It has been a year in the making, but students are finally able to learn in the new Science and Art wing of the high school. The addition includes a shop classroom, which is the first wood shop class room for the school. There are also a handful of new art classrooms, displays, smart boards, and safer science rooms. The renovation cost tax payers about $5.3 million, but one teacher believes it’s worth it.Art Sculpting Teacher, Joshua Curtis, says “It speaks volumes for the community because they stepped up and paid for it 100%, which is unbelievable, to spend this kind of money for the space. They understand the importance of educations, they understand what we’re trying to teach and I think it’s just a top notch community.”Teachers, students, and their parents were excited to take tours around the new wing. Officials say the new and improved classrooms will really help the learning process.
