There’s been a lot of talk lately about the high costs of gasoline and heating. Bangor Hydro is pitching an alternative. On Thursday afternoon, it hosted the Power Smart Maine Expo in Bangor, along with Maine Public Service.Different vendors and speakers were there to talk about everything from electric cars to home weatherization techniques.Heat pump technology is one topic at the expo that Bangor Hydro says will help cut electric bills in half.”Things have been so unstable and people want to be able to do something that’s going to make a huge difference, and so what we’re doing is providing an option to customers where they can use electricity efficiently, because in the past it hasn’t necessarily been the best use of electricity, but we firmly believe that this is a good option for customers,” said Susan Faloon, Bangor Hydro spokesperson.Bangor Hydro has plans to offer rebates and financing options to customers who install heat pumps.
