Bangor Group Makes 50 ft. Sandwich
Everyone has their own idea of what the perfect sandwich should taste like, and at Winterberry Heights in Bangor, the residents like it heavy on the ingredients.”Some cheese and tomatoes and pickles, you name it, it’s in there,” said Colleen Bean.Bean and her friends at the assisted living center spent their Thursday afternoon making just one sandwich together, a hoagie that spanned almost the entire length of their dining room table. The center’s activity coordinator, Heather Fletcher, said, “We had one of our buildings in our company out west build a 15 foot sandwich for Labor Day. Then they decided they wanted to make it a challenge and see if any other buildings wanted to try to go bigger.”Hungry for the challenge, nearly thirty people spent the day adding layer after layer.Resident, Paul Anderson told us, “Well, we’re going to beat them all to pieces.”Turns out, Paul was right. Their sandwich measured in at 55 feet, 4 inches.
