Oakland Man Sentenced to 8 Years for Robbing Skowhegan Credit Union
A man from Oakland is going to prison for eight years for robbing a credit union in Skowhegan. 27-year-old Paul Garland was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in Bangor. He was also ordered to pay back $9,147 he stole from the Taconnet Federal Credit Union three years ago. Garland pleaded guilty in April. Authorities say Garland robbed a teller at knifepoint, then hopped on the back of a motorcycle driven by 33-year-old Forrest Goodwin, Junior of Fairfield.In June, a jury cleared Goodwin of robbery, but found him guilty of being an accessory to the crime. He’s now waiting to be sentenced.
