9/11 Victims Remembered at Brewer Fire Department

A constant reminder of September 11, 2001 hangs at the Brewer Fire Department. A piece of steel recovered from the wreckage at Ground Zero is now part of the city’s public safety museum.Three pieces of the Twin Towers were given to the department back in 2008. According to Chief Gary Parent, the display is a way to not only honor those who died, but keep their memories alive.”We tend to forget about what happened that day. I mean, you know, when 9/11 rolls around everybody remembers and everything like that, but other than the day itself, most people don’t really pay much attention to it, and having the steel on display helps people to remember the big loss we had that day,” said Parent. The museum is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.
