Nice Weather Brings Bikers Out for Pedal the Penobscot
Sunday’s nice weather had many people heading outdoors to enjoy the end of the season.About 180 people participated in Pedal the Penobscot. There were a couple of options for the bike ride. Riders could bike anywhere from 14 to 100 miles. It’s the 6th year for the bangor tradition, with the most participants ever.Husson University sports teams cheered everyone on at the finish line. But most people just enjoy the ride, even long time riders love the atomosphere.(Dick Andren-Road Ride Committee) “I’ve been biking since I was 8 years old, so I’ve been biking for the last 60 years. It’s just wonderful to see a whole group of people out on the road biking. It’s a wonderful form of transportation and wonderful recreation.”The Bangor Land Trust plays a huge part in the ride.Their message is to encourage community members to keep open space in Bangor, so they can continue to have these sort of outdoor events.
