Levant 12 yr. old Goes the Distance for Good Cause

Last summer, we introduced you to an 11 year old girl from Levant, who ran 100 miles to raise money for lung cancer research. This year, Jayda Bailey, who is now 12, hit the pavement again. “I started at one mile last summer and being winded, and then I got up to two and three miles,” said Bailey. She spent all summer running another 100 miles, and met her goal at Broadway Park in Bangor, Wednesday morning. The seasoned athlete said, “When I woke up this morning I was so excited.”In the last couple years, she’s raised more than $3,000 in honor of her grandmother, who died of lung cancer last year.Bailey said, “I wouldn’t want to watch anyone die like that ever again, and hopefully gain enough research and to help kind of cure it some day.”The donations will go to the Lungevity Foundation, which helps fund cancer research.”She would be extremely proud of Jayda. She loved Jayda just like any grandparent would love their grandkid,” said Bailey’s father, Jessen. As she finished her last three laps, Bailey made one more stride towards helping others in the future. She said, “It’s the biggest accomplishment I’ve ever done. Like it was just amazing.”If you’d like to find out how you can make a donation to the foundation, or learn more about Bailey’s cause, click here Your text to link…
