Man Accused of Bangor Carjacking and High Speed Chase Appears in Court

A man accused of a carjacking and leading police on a high speed chase made his first court appearance Monday.31-year old Brian Swett appeared in a Bangor courtroom via video. He did not enter a plea on any of the charges he is facing, which include robbery, burglary of a motor vehicle, alluding an officer and criminal speeding.Authorities said a woman identified Swett as the man who threatened her, telling her to get out of her car on Harlow Street Friday afternoon.State police officials said he led them on a high speed chase along the interstate, which ended with Swett crashing the stolen car.He is also accused of assaulting a woman earlier that morning.As of Tuesday evening, Swett was being held on $15,000 bail at the Penobscot County Jail.
