The campaign manager for Republican state Treasurer Bruce Poliquin during his U.S. Senate bid has been hired as campaign director by Protect Marriage Maine. Protect Marriage Maine announced the hiring of Matt Hutson, along with his wife Megan, who’ll serve as grassroots coordinator. The Portland Press Herald, says Hutson previously worked as state director for Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and as central region director for Rick Santorum for president. Hutson said he and his wife “strongly believe in the sanctity of marriage.” Mainers will vote in November on a referendum seeking to legalize same-sex marriage in Maine.
