For the first time in over 20 years, the track stars from Maine USA Track and Field held their final event of the season in Brewer. The event is usually held in Augusta, where kids from all over the state have come to compete for the past 52 years. This year, however, over 900 athletes, ages 15 and under, got to compete on the newly renovated Brewer High School track and field.Today marked the end of 6 weeks week of Summer training. Track and field officials say a little rain didn’t keep the athletes from trying their best. Youth Chair for Maine USA Track and Field, Ronald Kelly said, “It’s definitely an individual type of sport. It’s them trying to improve against the clock, whether it’s distance or time. It’s them trying to improve.”This has been the biggest meet the Brewer High School field has hosted since it opened.
