Kids Taking Part in Giant Game of “Where’s Waldo” in Bangor
Out of the pages and into downtown businesses, kids can now play a giant game of “Where’s Waldo” in Bangor. It’s part of a promotion celebrating Waldo’s 25th anniversary.”The Briar Patch is one of 250 bookstores, independent bookstores, in the country that are participating in this promotion,” said Gibran Graham, Bangor “Find Waldo” Organizer.Including the Briar Patch bookstore, kids can search for Waldo at 20 different downtown locations. “It’s kind of like hide and seek,” said 6-year-old Caiden, during his hunt for Waldo. It’s a fun game for the kids, but the stores seem to be getting into it too.”They’re really having fun hiding him in their store in different places, even sometimes hiding them from eachother in the store you know, different employees doing that so that’s kind of fun,” said Graham.Find 8 of the hidden Waldos and you’ll get a special prize pin. Find 16 Waldos and you’ll get the pin, plus you’ll be entered in a drawing for one of the grand prizes at the end of the month.Of course, to look for Waldo, kids have to bring their parents along, which just might bring some new business to these stores..”We’ve seen a lot of new people into the Briar Patch. I’ve heard from other store owners that they’ve seen people come in that have told them they’ve never been in there before and maybe would never have come in without coming in with their kids to find Waldo,” said Graham.Kids can search for Waldo throughout the month of July. You can find the full list of participating businesses and redeem your prize pin at the Briar Patch bookstore. On July 31 at 11:00, the store will hold a Waldo grand celebration event and hold a grand prize drawing.
