Veteran of Maine State Troopers Sentenced to Less than Two Years for Sexually Assaulting Minor 

A veteran Maine State Trooper convicted of sexually assaulting a girl under the age of 14 has been sentenced to spend less than two years of a five-year jail sentence behind bars.Prosecutors say Gregory Vrooman, 46, was sentenced last week to serve 21 months of a five-year sentence, with the remaining time suspended.The Nobleboro man was convicted in April of multiple counts related to unlawful sexual contact with a minor.Prosecutors say that Vrooman’s lawyer has indicated that there will be an appeal.The defense attorney had previously questioned the girl’s allegations.
